Afghanistan

Prohibited, no market

Betting and games of chance are prohibited under the Taliban administration's Law on the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, announced in 2024. Enforcement is broad: in May 2025 the authorities suspended chess nationwide on the ground that it is a means of betting. There are no casinos, no lottery and no licensing authority.
