Licensing opening

The Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 took effect on 1 May 2026 and allows up to 15 online casino licences, allocated by auction run by the Department of Internal Affairs. Operators that have not applied for a licence must stop serving New Zealand players from 1 December 2026. TAB NZ keeps the sports and racing betting monopoly and Lotto NZ runs the lottery.
