Law 18/2024, in force since 27 March 2024, ended the 2019 ban on sports betting but allows it only online, through up to ten licences issued by competition. The implementing decisions were completed in 2026, but no licence had been issued by August 2026. Online casino and betting shops stay prohibited, the national lottery continues, and casinos operate only in a few five-star hotels.
