Law 86-26 of 22 September 2026, published on 2 October 2026, created the Dirección General de Juegos de Azar to license and supervise games of chance in physical venues and on electronic platforms, taking over from the Ministry of Finance. It adds identity checks and a national self-exclusion register. The Lotería Nacional runs the state lottery alongside licensed private lotteries.
