Georgi Aleksandrov, CEO of Pateplay, leads an iGaming company active across online slots, live casino content, and land-based gaming products. With operations spanning regulated and emerging markets, Pateplay’s position sits at the intersection of product diversification, gamification, and the challenge of building a consistent player experience across both digital and physical casino formats.
This CasinoRank Interview examines how that model is being tested as the company expands internationally. The discussion looks at regulated-market growth, the role of engagement mechanics in modern casino content, and why younger leadership and fresh product thinking are becoming more relevant in a sector still shaped by compliance, distribution, and scale.

Since leading Pateplay’s international expansion, how have your leadership philosophy and values shaped its growth into a global gaming provider?
Georgi Aleksandrov: My leadership philosophy has evolved through continuous learning — from other people’s experience, from my own decisions, and from the lessons that come with building a company in a fast-moving industry.
My style is very direct — high standards, fast decisions, full ownership. We move quickly, but we don’t compromise on quality. The core values that drove our growth and industry recognition are simple: discipline, originality, and execution. A lot of companies have ideas — very few execute at a high level consistently. I believe our online and land-based projects prove that to the full extend.
What strategic decisions were most critical in accelerating Pateplay’s expansion across regulated markets?
Georgi Aleksandrov: The biggest decision was choosing to go after regulated markets early, even though it’s harder. It forces you to build properly — better technology, better processes, better product.
At the same time, we stayed aggressive on distribution. We didn’t wait for perfect conditions — we pushed hard. Something that cannot be done without a great team.
With the portfolio spanning slots, live casino, and land-based products, how do you balance innovation across such diverse verticals?
Georgi Aleksandrov: We do not view slots, live casino, and land-based products as separate worlds. We see them as one connected ecosystem, and our goal is to build strong concepts that can translate across multiple formats.
The real challenge is not diversification itself, but maintaining identity, consistency, and quality across everything we do.
Engagement tools are a recurring theme in your products — how do you evaluate which features resonate most with players?
Georgi Aleksandrov: We look at data, but we don’t rely only on it. Players don’t always behave logically.
What matters most is how a feature feels — do they relive a dream when looking at the jackpot number? Mechanics like jackpots or mystery rewards work because they create emotional spikes. That’s what we focus on creating moments that resonate with players, not just math.
As the industry shifts toward experiences rather than just games, how has this influenced Pateplay’s roadmap, particularly in live and interactive formats?
Georgi Aleksandrov: This shift is real. Especially in the live and interactive formats, we need to have the base and regular games but the success will come with something new, something different but also simple.
As our founder once told me – “Making something simple is often the hardest thing to do”.
With gamification becoming more central in iGaming, how do you see the role of social or competitive elements evolving in both online and in-venue products?
Georgi Aleksandrov: Competition will become a core layer, not just an add-on.
Leaderboards, tournaments, shared experiences — these will define retention. People don’t just want to win, they want to win against someone or be seen winning, but also they must be tired of competing with the casino, am i right?
Your recent EGR Europe Award nomination puts Pateplay in strong company. What does that recognition signal internally about the company’s trajectory?
Georgi Aleksandrov: It’s a good signal that we’re moving in the right direction, but internally it doesn’t change much.
We’re not building the company for awards — we’re building it to win long term. Dont get me wrong, recognition is great, but never the goal. It is great that we’re starting to stand out in but I believe this is just the beginning.
As Pateplay enters complex regulated markets like Brazil and North America, how do compliance requirements shape your product design and go-to-market strategy?
Georgi Aleksandrov: Regulation forces discipline, which is a good thing.
It impacts everything — from game design to timelines. You have to think ahead, structure properly, but most of all – rely on local experienced people to lead the way. We’ve built our systems with that in mind, so entering new regulated markets becomes faster over time.
Finally, If you could challenge one prevailing assumption in iGaming today, what would it be, and why?
Georgi Aleksandrov: The industry leans heavily on experience, but it underestimates young talent. Not many are given the chance early – I was, and I intend to prove that the next generation can deliver at the highest level.
