Key Takeaways

  • ClearStake raises £1.5 million to accelerate growth and launch ID by Bank verification product
  • Investment backed by prominent figures from Bede Gaming, Flutter, PointsBet, and other major iGaming companies
  • New technology aims to streamline compliance while improving conversion rates for operators

UK Verification Platform Secures Major Investment

ClearStake, a player verification platform serving the UK iGaming sector, has successfully raised £1.5 million in its latest funding round. The investment will fuel the company’s expansion plans and support the rollout of its new product called ID by Bank, which allows operators to verify player identities directly through banking applications.

The platform’s technology is designed to make compliance processes more efficient, decrease the need for manual reviews, and help gaming operators convert more first-time depositors while reducing fraud risks.

Industry Veterans Back the Innovation

The funding round attracted an impressive roster of investors from across the iGaming landscape and digital entertainment sectors. Notable backers include Michael Brady from Bede Gaming and Conexus, Simon Collins who previously worked with Foxy Bingo and Gaming Realms plc, and Savvas Fellas of MrQ.com.

Additional investors include Will Armitage and Philipp Strizke from BestOdds.com, Max Wright of White Hat Gaming, Ben Clemes (formerly at GiG and now with HappyHour), David Flynn from Glitnor Group, Paddy Power of Flutter, and Sam Swannell from PointsBet.

This latest capital injection follows a previous funding round completed in February 2024, which helped ClearStake expand its partnerships with major operators including tombola, MrQ, and Ivy Casino.

Regulatory Confidence and Market Adoption

The platform has already been utilized in multiple UK Gambling Commission audits, providing operators with transparent player data that regulators trust. This regulatory confidence has helped ClearStake build momentum in the competitive verification space.

The company’s shareholder base includes additional experienced gaming executives such as High Roller CEO Seth Young, former Sportsbet CEO Cormac Barry, former EML CEO Tom Cregan, Adam Perrin (previously with Paddy Power), and Oliver Slipper, who co-founded and formerly led Stats Perform.

Verification as a Growth Driver

ClearStake CEO Martin Burt highlighted the significance of the investment: “This raise is a strong signal that our mission matters more than ever. The investors backing us have built some of the most successful businesses in iGaming and have experienced first-hand the challenges of regulatory friction.”

He added, “Their support validates our approach: making all verification seamless, compliant and player-friendly. With products like ID by Bank and our affordability and source-of-funds solutions, we’re proving that exceptional customer experience around verification and compliance can actually drive growth, not kill it.”

The investment comes at a time when UK iGaming operators face increasing regulatory requirements around player verification, affordability checks, and responsible gambling measures.
