Paytable Achievements feature
Since the release of Thunderstruck II, Microgaming has introduced a novel feature in its online video slots called Paytable Achievements feature. In the earlier slots Microgaming explained this feature in the payout table, but in the recent releases, you would need to read the detailed rules accessed through the “?” icon for the Paytable Achievements feature.
The Paytable Achievements feature works in the following way. Take for example the recently released Bikini Party online video slot. The girl in the red bikini pays when two or more of the symbol appears from left to right. Therefore there are four winning combinations for this symbol. In a spin, you land this symbol on reels 1 and 2. The two-of-a-kind combination for this symbol gets highlighted on the payout table. Later you may get this symbol on reels 1, 2 and 3. Then the three-of-a-kind combination for the red bikini girl will be highlighted. The combinations of all symbols will be highlighted in this manner when hit. When all the combinations of a particular symbol get highlighted, you are informed of the paytable achievement.
The paytable achievements are independent of the bet amount. When you change the bet, the achievements are not reset. In the beginning, the achievements occur more frequently but slow down considerably later. In particular, the five-of-a-kind achievements usually take a long time. It is impossible to highlight every combination on the payout table in one session. You will need to exit the video slot. But the highlighted achievements are not lost. When you load the game again, you start from your earlier position. However, the following cases do not result in paytable achievements. Wins with wild substitutions do not count. For example, three red bikini girls on the first three reels with the Wild Bikini Party logo will pay for four-of-a-kind, but there will be no corresponding highlighting of the combination. Also, combinations achieved in free spins features will not be highlighted.
Players at Microgaming powered online casinos have opposing attitudes to the Paytable Achievements feature. Some ignore it totally, primarily because it does not affect the payouts in any manner whatsoever. Also, the innate nature of the function is such that it is meaningful only if the player wagers on the same slot game for very extended periods. With Microgaming releasing new video slots every month, some players tend to forget about the earlier games. Other players find the feature attractive. It is a measure of the progress made on wagering on the video slot, with the ultimate objective of unlocking all achievements. These players tend to get stuck on a handful of video slots.
